St Mary's Church, Marshalswick

St Mary's is an Open Church - Open to God, Open to You

Sunday 8 November
Third Sunday before Advent - Remembrance

St Mary's is in vacancy. Our last Vicar, Fr Grant Holmes, retired on 26 October 2020. The process of finding a new Vicar has started but it will take time.  We are very grateful to very grateful to members of the clergy who have offered to help us with services during the vacancy.

Sadly, the new lockdown means that there will be no more public worship for the time being but we hope to be able to upload a said Service of Holy Communion on Sunday mornings. The plan is that the Revd Canon Dr Ruth Goatly will celebrate on Sundays 8, 22 and 29 November while Fr Richard Watson from St Saviour's will record a service at St Mary's for 15 November.

APPEAL FOR HELP - St Mary's Church, along with many churches, charities, businesses and people, is struggling financially in this COVID-19 period. We still have nearly all our outgoings but have lost some of our sources of income; for example, we cannot hire out our hall or use it for our own fundraising events. We realise that this is a tough time for many, but if you could make a donation, it would be very much appreciated.   Just click here to go to our giving page.

St Albans Cathedral - from 10.50am

With the rest of the country, we will commemorate Remembrance Sunday with a traditional Requiem service. The musical setting, sung by the Lay Clerks and Sopranos, will be Faure's Requiem.

This service marks Remembrance Sunday.
Led from the Royal Military Chapel by Rev John Vincent CF, the service honours those who gave their lives for the peace of our nation.
