Living God's Love in St Albans
OUR DIAMOND JUBILEE - 75 YEARS AS ST MARY'S CHURCH
This September we celebrate 75 years since our first church building, a converted chicken hut, was consecrated as St Mary's as a centre of worship in 1943, during the dark days of the Second World War.
PATRONAL FESTIVAL CELEBRATION - Our Patronal Festival is actually on 8 September, traditional birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary but this year we will mark it on Sunday 9 September.)
We are delighted that on Sunday 9 September, the Rt Revd Dr Alan Smith, the Bishop of St Albans, will be celebrant and preacher at our Parish Communion. This will also include confirming two candidates, one baptism and admitting three youngsters to Holy Communion. As this is a second Sunday, there will be refreshments before the Service from 9.30 am and the Service itself will be at 10 am.
SECOND SUNDAY OF MONTH - On the second Sunday of each month we begin with Coffee in the Hall at 9.30 am and then go into church around 10.00 am for the Parish Eucharist using our new Second Sunday format. It is also the Sunday when we offer gifts for the FEED Collection - the gifts will be collected during the first hymn.
