St Mary's is an Open Church - Open to God, Open to You
St Mary's covers much of the Marshalswick / Jersey Farm area in St Albans, Hertfordshire. (Click for Map)
St Mary's is in vacancy so we do not have a vicar at the moment. It will be several months before a new one will be with us. See Vacancy page for more about what is happening.
IMPORTANT - NEW ZOOM details for Services and Coffee Shop from start of June
Please note that we have new ZOOM login ids for all our church services and meetings. The new login ids for Morning Prayer / Wednesday evening service (same id works for both) and for the Coffee Shop are on the website in the appropriate section.
We hold the Parish Communion Service twice in church at 9.00am and 10.30am. We would love to be able to welcome anyone who wishes to turn up but St Mary's has very much reduced seating capacity in these Covid times so we need to have some idea of numbers for Sunday services. Members of the congregation have been allocated to a service. There are several spaces left for the 9.00am Service but we are almost at full capacity for the 10.30am service.
Please contact a churchwarden if you would like to come at 9.00am or want to check if any space at a 10.30 am Service.
See below for an unedited video of the 9.00 am service .
The congregational words are not on the screen but here is St Mary's service booklet.
There are sung hymns at the start and end of the service. If you wish to join in, the words can be found here.
See this week's Pewsheet which contains the collect and readings for the service, notices and the parish prayer list.

For information on what our young did in WitH see if there are photos under Sunday page for that week

The Coffee Shop Meeting has been held every Saturday since April 2021 on ZOOM, starting at 10.30am and going till noon or even12.30pm if people still chatting. People drop in and out or stay the whole time - just as they did at the physical Coffee Shop at St Mary's. It is a good opportunity to to see, hear and chat with others! Many have their coffee with them! Do join in! When there are 10 or more people, we divide into smaller groups for around 15 minutes, then come back for a while and then into groups again - this gives more people more chance to chat!

APPEAL FOR HELP - St Mary's Church, along with many churches, charities, businesses and people, is struggling financially in this COVID-19 period. We still have nearly all our outgoings but have lost some of our sources of income; for example, we cannot hire out our hall or use it for our own fundraising events. We realise that this is a tough time for many, but if you could make a donation, it would be very much appreciated. Just go to our giving page.
SUGGESTIONS FOR OUR WEBSITE - We would welcome ideas for future content and comments on our website, please email the web-editor. Also, please let us know if you come across anything that is not working properly or is not clear. We would also welcome contributions to our Stay-at-Home News
