This Sunday - 18th October 2020 - St Luke the Evangelist

We apologise for the lateness of uploading the service this week.
We had some internet problems on Saturday night
and immediately after this 9.00am Service, we held our Annual Meetings.

Fr Grant Holmes, our Vicar, has announced that he will be retiring at the end of October 2020.
His final Sunday with us as our Vicar will be Sunday 25 October which is shortly after his 66th Birthday.
Watch his announcement below which has been taken from the video of the 9.00 am Service on 2 August.

DECEMBER 2020    7.45 pm   ST MARY’S CHURCH
This is an opportunity for us to consider our vision for St Mary’s and personal spec of the future incumbent and is one of the steps along the way in a vacancy.  Bishop Michael and Archdeacon Jane will be attending the meeting.  More information about the meeting and other steps will follow but we wanted you all to know about 1st December meeting as soon as possible.

Holy Communion Services   There will not be singing in church as not yet allowed.    Service Booklet
9.00 am (This service will be filmed and uploaded to our website. Please say if you do not wish to be filmed.)
        10.30 am
Because of COVID-19 social distancing regulations, we regret that seating capacity is limited. The congregation have already been asked which service they would like to attend so we know we can fit them in with a few seats spare! If you are not yet on the list, but would like to attend a service, we will do our best to welcome you and find you a seat! It would be helpful if you would contact the Vicar in advance (07720 840661).

Morning Prayer    Monday to Saturday at 9.00 am     (about 20 minutes)      ALL WELCOME

Do I have to wear a mask?
Yes -
The wearing of masks in places of worship for members of the congregation at all services
is  required.

ST MARY'S ONLINE SERVICE   -   This will hopefully be available from 10.30 am on Sundays
Change of format -  Since lock-down, we have uploaded a pre-recorded Eucharist celebrated by our Vicar, Fr Grant Holmes, often with readings and intercessions from various members of the congregation. The congregational words and hymns with words and graphics were added from the start of May.  Now that St Mary's has public worship in church, instead of a pre-recorded service, we will  video the 9.00am service and upload that "as is" - should be available to view from 10.30am.   The congregational words will not show on the screen but you can follow the service using St Mary's service booklet.

PRIVATE PRAYER    (may change)
MONDAY and THURSDAY        10.30 am to 1.30 pm
SATURDAY                                     9.00 am to 11.00 am

PEPPERCORN PLACE - This will remain open daily (except in bad weather)
Even though the church itself can only be open at certain times, you are welcome to go into Peppercorn Place during the day for quiet reflection or to meet another person. There are two separate seating areas  - the bench and the picnic plus additional tables and seating in warm weather.  Please respect social distancing!

APPEAL FOR HELP - St Mary's Church, along with many churches, charities, businesses and people, is struggling financially in this COVID-19 period. We still have nearly all our outgoings but have lost some of our sources of income; for example, we cannot hire out our hall or use it for our own fundraising events. We realise that this is a tough time for many, but if you could make a donation, it would be very much appreciated.   Just click here to go to our giving page.

SUGGESTIONS FOR OUR WEBSITE  - We would welcome ideas for future content and comments on our website, please email the web-editor. Also, please let us know if you come across anything that is not working properly or is not clear.  We would also welcome contributions to our Stay-at-Home News
